So I'm standing around at work yesterday when I notice something quite peculiar on a magazine rack. Being the naturally curious person I am I go to inspect and lo and behold there is a magazine sitting on that rack, entirely in Spanish. Normally, I don't really care if you can't speak English, but when the media does something like this, it is then I have to shake my head. By continuing to publish our latest celebrity and political magazines in English, we at least gave our foreign friends the inspiration to want to learn English. But now we have just made it easier for them to never learn English. So we, who have been born and raised into this country or who have traveled to this country and actually have put forth the effort to learn the language now have to live with the fact that others can't/won't speak our language. So we have to speak their language, in our own country??? Seriously, you should want to take a foreign language because you want to learn it to travel or talk to a pen pal, not because prick is insulting you in their language and you need to understand it. Unfair much Perhaps I'm the only one with views like this, and that is okay. It is just my opinion. On a last note, way to go Media dunces.

oh, most certainly. Any act of the media to make it easier for the immigrating mexicans to be lazy and not learn the native tongue, is stupid. I mean, there are some immigrants who are old, just trying to find a good way to end their years, raise a good family... i'm fine with that, there's just an age where you can't be expected to really learn anything anymore. But please, raise some kids, and raise them to speka english. raise them to be bilingual, but make sure english is in there somewhere. Then they can translate the news for you.
That's one reason I chose french instead of spanish. If I want to visit france, they're going to treat me like a crushed bug in a dirt blob stuck into a wad of gum and attached to the bottom of their shoes if I can't atleast attempt to speak their language. They can understand that I'm not fluent, but they will RESPECT MY EFFORT!
I have no sympathy for those who come to my country and do not even try to learn my language. [/raaaaaant]

And that is exactly my point, as it were. I only learn Spanish because I enjoy it and someday hope to see the elegant country that is Spain. But to have to use it to survive it in my own country is rediculous.
